On the way home

On the way home (2023-ongoing) is a diaristic photographic project that brings together analogue images from Laura’s everyday life. Made between Brittany, France, and Ireland, the series reflects on her evolving relationship with both places, exploring what it means to call somewhere home.

Although Brittany and Ireland share strong cultural and geographical affinities — from rugged coastline and shifting weather to rural traditions and Celtic heritage — this sense of familiarity between them blurs the boundaries of belonging. As each place echoes the other, the question of where she belongs remains unresolved.

Using different analogue cameras and film formats, the work embraces fragmentation and variation as part of this in-between experience. Photography becomes a way of navigating overlapping identities and tracing what it means to exist between two closely connected homes.
