Kerry under an ancient gaze

Living in Brittany, Laura is used to rocky landscapes, bright green grass maintained by the rain and the sea that she cherishes so much.

It was therefore quite natural that she wanted to go to Ireland. She first went there for a surf trip with friends in 2018 and it was love at first sight. Since then, she has gone there several times, to go surfing or simply to spend a good time with her family, until deciding to begin her higher education in Dublin in September 2023.

During these last stays in Kerry, she walked around with two film cameras, each loaded with a different film, in order to immortalize what she had before her eyes.

As she looked at the horizon at Kells Beach, these Sunday fishermen attracted her and that’s how she found herself photographing them through her old camera found at a flea market last year.

Another subject that often comes up in her photos from this stay were the sheep on the farm of B&B Taobh Coille in Gleensk.

Finally, one last place caught her eyes: Rossbeigh Strand. These refined landscapes, accentuated by the use of B&W film, appealed to her.
